MCA Youth information chief Neow Choo Seong said the DAP lawmaker has no right to comment on BN affairs.
“Chong claims that MCA no longer represents the Chinese community. So I challenge him to tell the Chinese community whether DAP has fulfilled its promise to recognise the UEC, after more than two years in government.
“What about the promise for 999-year land leases - has that been delivered?” Neow (above) asked in a statement.
Earlier today, Chong entered the fray in the ongoing tit-for-tat between Umno and Bersatu, but targeted MCA.
He said that Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin’s recent proposal for Umno to dissolve and join Bersatu would be “more appropriate” to be directed to MCA.
‘MCA moderate’
Neow, however, insisted that it was impossible for MCA to join DAP.
“There is no way MCA could join DAP. It would be like oil and water.
“MCA is a moderate party that practises moderation and embraces diversity - not an extremist party that dares to use racial sentiments just to gain support,” he stressed.
“We would never label the unification of the ummah through Umno-PAS cooperation as a ‘declaration of war against non-Muslims or non-Malays,’ nor would we describe it as a ‘Taliban state’,” he added.
The BN Youth communications director went on to urge Chong to respond to reported claims by PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad that DAP withdrew from the Barisan Alternatif pact in 2001 after it allegedly failed to pressure PAS into dropping its “Islamist agenda”.
