Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad has been reappointed as health minister, a portfolio which he held when Pakatan Harapan was in power from 2018 to 2020.

The Amanah leader will be replacing Dr Zaliha Mustafa, who has been redesignated as minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories).

Selangor DAP chief Gobind Singh has been named as digital minister whereas Johari Abdul Ghani is now the plantation and commodities minister.

Dzulkefly, who is a toxicologist by profession, lost his job about a month after the Covid-19 pandemic started after the Harapan administration was overthrown in the infamous Sheraton Move.

He was then appointed to head the Selangor government's Covid-19 task force.

The Kuala Selangor MP's handling of the pandemic when it first broke out was largely praised.

Gobind, meanwhile, served as communications and multimedia minister in the Harapan administration under former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad from 2018 to 2020.

The Damansara MP made history by becoming the first-ever Sikh cabinet minister in Malaysian history.

As for Johari, he returns to the administration after a five-year hiatus.

He last served as finance minister II under the BN administration under former premier Najib Abdul Razak from June 2016 until the collapse of BN rule in May 2018.

The Titiwangsa MP-cum-Umno vice-president also serves as the chairperson of the 1MDB Task Force established in March 2023 to resolve matters linked to the scandal.
