Since the task force was established on March 22, the police chief said 19 investigation papers had been opened and 12 individuals were arrested.
"Instructions for each case reported to the police are that they have information relating to the occurrence of the offence and the (3R) investigation papers must be completed within seven days to be referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers for charging or otherwise.
"Such actions will be taken continuously to ensure that harmony and public order in this multi-racial country is always maintained," he was quoted as saying by Bernama.
The 3R task force, which is led by Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, is managed by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit, Division D5 of the CID.
The last arrest took place in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday, where a 40-year-old man was picked up for allegedly insulting Islam.
The suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations under Section 298A of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act.
Yesterday, DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng lodged a police report against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for claiming that non-Malays were the “biggest plunderers” in this nation.
He urged the police to probe the veteran politician under various laws covering defamation, intentional insult to provoke a breach of the peace, statements conducive to public mischief, the Sedition Act, and the Communications and Multimedia Act.
On Wednesday, DAP chairperson Lim Guan Eng said the lack of action against Hadi has emboldened the latter to continue churning out statements that threaten national security.
