It might be shocking to some fellow Malaysians that 10 percent of schools in Malaysia stream students based on race. I was one of those pupils from a school in Penang. Back in 1997 when I obtained my PMR result, I was very happy that I scored seven As.

There were only 100 of us then. So, most of us thought happily that we would be entering the first, second or the third class. To our horror, the school streamed us based on race. We were placed in four instead of three classes.

Worse, those who are qualified for the first class were sent to the fourth class and vice versa.

What happened to our Vision 2020? What happened to Bangsa Malaysia? Let us heed our DPM's advice. Do not stream students based on race. At the end of the day, Malaysia may suffer a brain drain as a result.
