In my letter, 'Govt exacting a toll on the people' (Dec 11), a point which I had inserted was inadvertently left out. I wish to state that the RM8 million bonds cited by Works Minister S Samy Vellu as used in the construction of the highway were actually used to pay off debts incurred by the Renong/UEM group.

Some of these debts were incurred by Prolink Development Sdn Bhd which has sunk in billions of ringgit in its Bandar Nusajaya project in Johor.

Prolink is now the biggest seller of land bank in Malaysia, possibly the world (another world record for Malaysia?).

And Samy had the nerve to state that the toll-hike decision will not be reviewed by the government.

I say it's time then for those who voted in the BN government in the last general elections to review their choices of vote in 2004.
