I refer to the Malaysiakini report Ku Li backs Hadi's 'unity govt' call.

Indeed, in my opinion, finally, some politician has dare make the clarion call that is sensible, logical and appropriate to the prevailing circumstances and situation affecting the nation, albeit perhaps quite tedious and intricate to practically implement.

For, in my mind, if one enters politics to democratically acquire a power of governance that will be utilised for the betterment and well-being of the rakyat, then, now, more than ever, the need for all politicians of different hues and shades to come together.

This without being antagonistic due to different affiliations, to prove to all and sundry that they truly mean what they say they aspire to accomplish.

The global economic tsunami currently hitting our shores is slowly, but, surely hurting Malaysians in ways they have never encoutered before.

The political shenanigans emanating in the various states and nationally, if left unchecked and compounded by the severe economic malaise, may lead to disastrous consequences, worse than that of 1969, if we do not manage them well and fast.

It is with these dire warnings in mind that I, too, share the similar sentiments ofAbdul Hadi Awang and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. Let us all prove to the world that Malaysia, thus far always claiming proudly that we are a beacon of inter-ethnic and inter-religious harmony as proven in the past 51 years, are also capable of doing the ‘unthinkable’.

That being by amalgamating our very best brains in economics and harnessing the intellect as well as political expertise and acumen of all political personalities from the rainbow of parties that we have across both aisles of Parliament to overcome the challenge.

A government of national unity will consist of competent and able politicians from all political parties and be entrusted with drawing up plans to tackle the economic quagmire expected upon us.

This as well as defusing the boiling politico-religious-ethnic temperature currently besieging our nation. Indeed, this may be the only solution left for us to explore and implement in order to be the Malaysia we all hope to be.

I dare challenge our politicians to rise to the occasion and practice what they preach for the benefit of all the rakyat. In times of dire need, individual sacrifices and party-based aspirations may have to be made for the good fo the nation.

Can it happen in Malaysia?
