What has been happening in MCA has reached threatening proportions, endangering the survival of the party. Undisciplined and insolent rebels like Lim Ah Lek, Chua Jui Meng and Ong Tee Keat are tearing the only Chinese party in this country apart.

It is time for responsible party leaders like Dr Ling Liong Sik to take firm action against those who conspire to destroy the party. If there is a necessity, expel them from the party.

Look at Umno's Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP's Lim Kit Siang. Their parties are strong and coherent because these two leaders are decisive. They sacked all dissidents, whether personal friends or proteges or not, to maintain unity of their parties.

At first, many people would hate those who take firm action. But after a while, everyone will forget about it. Look at Kit Siang - who remembers his firm actions against undisciplined leaders in the past 30 years? He is still loved and respected by younger Malaysians who have no memory of the past. Similarly, who remembers Anwar Ibrahim now? Mahathir is now hugely popular even though he was severely criticised initially. That's how politics is.

So, Ling must learn from Mahathir and Kit Siang. Do what is necessary now. People will forget about it very soon. Then, MCA can start all over again with one leader, one will and one voice.
