Perak Umno Youth today filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against Perak speaker V Sivakumar over the suspension of the state menteri besar and six executive councillors.

V SivakumarThe report was filed by the Youth wing's assistant secretary Hang Tuah Din who accused Sivakumar (left) of abusing his powers and acting in bad faith.

He also alleged that the speaker's decision was politically motivated as well as an insult and challenge to Perak ruler, Sultan Azlan Shah.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the state assemblyperson for Slim, Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, has filed a police report against Sivakumar at the Slim River police station.

This morning, Perak Umno Youth chief Zainol Fadzi Paharudin told Malaysiakini that Umno and state government lawyers were looking into the possibility of filing the police report under the Sedition Act.

Yesterday, Sivakumar announced that Perak Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir and the excos have been suspended with immediate effect from the state assembly for 18 months and 12 months respectively.

Zambry and the excos were referred to the state assembly's committee of special privileges on the charge that they had acted in contempt of the state assembly.

This came after DAP state assemblyperson Wong Kah Woh filed a complaint that their swearing-in ceremony went against the state constitution since Pakatan Rakyat's menteri besar Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin had yet to resign.

Sivakumar said the seven were suspended for failing to provide a proper explanation for their conduct.

'Acted as prosecutor and judge'

zainol fadzi paharuddinHowever, Zainol (right) slammed the speaker for acting as 'prosecutor and judge' in this matter, adding that it was the sultan who appointed the menteri besar and excos.

"This means Sivakumar has committed treason against the sultan and he does not acknowledge the sultan's decision (to endorse the new state government)," he said.

Zainol, who was one of those suspended, also revealed that Sivakumar had met the menteri besar and the excos regarding the matter last night.

"The menteri besar and excos objected to the decision since the speaker should have read (the charge) in the state assembly but he (Sivakumar) made an unilateral decision," said Zainol.

"After Zambry and the excos raised their objection, we all left Sivakumar's room," he added.

The other five excos suspended are Ramly Zahari (Manong), Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan), Hamidah Osman (Sungai Rapat), Mohd Zahir Abdul Khalid (Kamunting) dan Dr Mah Hang Soon (Chenderiang).
