On Nude photos: Exco lodges police report

J Eng: Wong, be strong, you will have our support. Just ignore what the ex-MB of Selangor has said in the media. We cannot stop him from doing that.

But most importantly, he is already in the history of the state. Mr Ex-MB, please show your maturity in politics.

In the past, you always urged the opposition party leaders to be more constructive when they were voicing out their views. But look at yourself now, what have you done?

Ms Wong, please don't give up. We are behind you. We need a politician like you to serve the rakyat for a better future for the state and nation.

Ladies and gentlemen, we are all wise enough to make a decision on who we should support and who we should not. Show our support to Wong so that she can weather this challenge.

Peter Ooi: Elizabeth Wong is a brave lady, coming forward to take the bull by its horns in reporting her nude photos were being circulated in public.

I am sure there are many 'holier-than-thou' BN members now ready to have a field day giving all sorts sexist remarks which many of them are experts in.

Before they start hurling any uncalled for remarks, please do remember that in their midst are some who have committed worse acts than Wong.

But I really despise the man who has stooped so low as to make these photos of her public. Here is the case of a jilted man who lost her to a gentleman.

Politically Frustrated: Just how low can Malaysian politics go? Character assassination of politicians seems to be favoured over serving the rakyat and bettering of our society.

With all the recent political maneuvering and illegal power-grabbing, I would find it hard to accept that this incident has no political connection to it.

The tsunami of global recession is already raging at our shores and we are still acting like an immature lot.

Perhaps another round of a tsunami will do all of us some good in knocking back some sense into our heads!

Ahmad Kamal: It’s the nude season again for Malaysia's sad state of politics.

I am beginning to believe that there must be some kind of syndicate buying off these so-called 'proof of the morally down-fallen' among us, to use at the most opportune moment in our lives.

For all we know, someone has broken into Wong's room to snap these pictures. That or Wong may have chosen the most indiscreet of companions in her intimate moments - but that is her life to choose.

The attempt to derail the electorate by this expose must be denounced. We should denounce the culprit for this breach of trust, this absolute lack of integrity in releasing these private, stolen shots.

We are not in a position to judge Wong's private life. Dare we cast the first stone?

Ong: If Elizabeth Wong is certain the ex-boyfriend is the only person with the opportunity to take the photos and video, then I suggest that she should expose the identity of this person.

Let the Malaysian public hound this man the same way Hee Yit Foong is being hounded.

Akkumaran: This is an act of gross invasion on a lady's private life. I truly sympathise with Wong.

All normal human beings will sympathise with her except for the so-called home minister who is saying that Pakatan's reps are a set of problematic people.

What kind of a stupid statement is this? What if this has happened to his daughter or his granddaughter? Just see how matured a politician Nazri Aziz is. He was kind enough to sympathise with Wong.

To Khir Toyo, please be reminded that Soi Lek was caught in a sex act and not in his sleep.

All politicians, please be reminded that all of us have got children. This can happen to any one of us.

Dr Yogaraj Ramanathan: I believe that the majority of right-thinking, level-headed Selangorians would regard this so-called scandal involving the circulation of unsolicited material with total contempt.

Politics in this country is stooping to new lows. A has been chief minister tries to score brownie points and demonstrates the very crass mentality which should keep him out of office for a lifetime.

A home minister renowned for his infinite repertoire of embarrassing responses doesn't disappoint yet again. That someone's private life and private moments have been invaded and violated without an iota of consideration or conscience is despicable.

The people responsible for this vile violation can, I hope, live at peace with their conscience and their God. It is my sincere wish and hope that the good people of Selangor rally behind Ms Elizabeth Wong and offer their steadfast support so that she may continue the sterling service she has accorded to the state government and the people who elected her.

It surely will be a time of immense personal anguish which cannot be trivialised. But let not the vultures, scoundrels and scum succeed in their corrupt schemes of attempting to discredit good people.

In the final analysis, it will be up to the people to judge someone on their merits.

Pakac Luteb: The circulation of the nude pictures of Elizabeth Wong reflects badly on the person or persons who made and distributed the pictures rather than on Ms Wong or her party.

Elizabeth Wong is merely an innocent victim of an uncouth person or persons. She should receive sympathy from people rather than criticism over this issue.

What's the fuss about nudity? It's part of being human. Once, while I was at uni overseas, there was a fire alarm in the hostel I stayed.

I had been sleeping nude. I tried to grab my dressing gown as i ran from my room but missed it. I was nude standing amongst my hostel mates but nobody bothered.

Why can't Malaysians have a casual attitude towards nudity like some overseas countries?

Yuvan: It does not matter which political party Elizabeth Wong belongs to. She is a human being and her right to privacy has been grossly violated.

She needs all the support that she can muster from her family, party colleagues and friends so that she can overcome this trauma as quickly as possible.

She must remain strong and continue to discharge her political duties and responsibilities to the best extent possible. Whoever did this to her is a pervert and deserves severe punishment.

I hope the authorities will do all they can to identify and bring the culprit to the courts without delay.

It is also worth noting here that time and again many politicians have fallen victims to these sort of scams and threats which have destroyed their political careers and also their livelihood.

This only goes to show that people in public service should practice extreme caution and must be on guard at all times, even when they are sleeping!

Raj Narayanan: How low can we get as a nation of decent people? The recent issue around Ms Elizabeth Wong is atrocious, utterly disgusting and most of all shows our ugly selves to all our children.

That someone or some group would even stoop this low only tells me how worried and frightened they are of the realities of the nation today, that they would sell their own souls to do such lowly things.

I would only tell Ms Wong this - I do not know you but I have heard about your good work. Keep it up and let the dogs bark as much as they want. They no longer have the teeth to bite.

They are a dying breed and they would soon suffocate from their own barking. As long as you keep your commitment to your constituents, the truth will prevail, and more so, at the ballot box..

As for you Khir Toyo, what would it take for you to realise that you do not have the moral right nor authority to pass judgment on anyone?

I would advise you to don a sack and go before God in deep repentance and fasting, begging for His mercy on judgment day. I will pray for you today as I, though a sinner, believes that everyone deserves a chance to set it right with God.

As for all decent Malaysians (and thankfully, there are many left), it is time we acted in our little ways. Please do not subscribe to any journals or newspapers or visit any site that tries to exploit Ms Wong.

If we, the public, do not subscribe to such idiotic tactics and do not read them, then we can stop such immoral actions by unscrupulous individuals in future.

Let us show that we reject such actions in total no matter how tempting and sensational the subject matter can seem to be.

Malaysian With Children: The ordeal facing Elizabeth Wong is a cowardly and shameful criminal violation of a person's privacy. She was doing nothing wrong.

All Malaysians should be utterly repulsed by this exploitation. An innocent, unsuspecting citizen's privacy has been invaded and criminalised. Anyone calling for Wong's resignation should perhaps be investigated as a possible conspirator in this criminal deed.

Every Malaysian, especially our leaders, need to stand up and say this violation is unacceptable behaviour, and that the guilty parties must be found quickly and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Every woman in Malaysia must stand up against this abuse, where once again, a woman is not safe even in her own home.

This exploit is yet another dark day in a growing and saddening 'trail of Malaysian tears'.

Mazliza Othman: The privacy invasion of Elizabeth Wong tells me two things. Firstly, the people behind it must be very desperate.

Secondly, they can't find any dirt and scandal that would tarnish Pakatan Rakyat's reputation, therefore, they stoop to a new low level by invading her privacy.

For heaven's sake! She was sleeping alone in her bedroom in her own home. Unlike a former minister who was caught in the act with a woman who was not his wife.

Is this a crime ? Come on, people of Malaysia. Use some common sense.

I find these remarks to not only be sexist, but also very discriminatory and indicative of a ‘blame the victim’ mentality. Does it really matter what a man was doing in her room?

All that matters is that her privacy has been violated. It's certainly none of his business whether or not she allowed a man into her room.

To quote him, ‘She's a single person.’ So she's not married. This is quite different from Chua Soi Lek, who is married and was caught red-handed cheating on his wife.

Elizabeth Wong, on the other hand, seem to be guilty of being photographed while she was asleep. How is that similar to a man who was cavorting around with his mistress in a hotel room?

Khir Toyo, the depths you will sink to get cheap publicity for the Umno elections never ceases to amaze me.

Steven Wong: Humans are sexual beings. This is a fact. Whether a person has sexual relationship before he or she gets married is a principle based on religion and personal beliefs.

In this country where we profess to respect each other's principles, religion and beliefs, I am curious why certain quarters who actively professes such during election campaigns can now disrespect a person's personal right to sexuality.

Wong was elected because of her capabilities, not because of her abstinence from sex because she is single.

For those who condemn her on the basis of religion, I believe God says that if a person even thinks of an unclean thought, he or she has already committed adultery.

So can any of these condemners stand up and profess that they have never ever had an unclean thought in their minds before? If not then why don't they resign too?

As Jesus said in the bible, let him who has not sinned, cast the first stone.

Leela: Much has been said about Elizabeth Wong. I would like to ask every single person reading this to put themselves in her shoes.

Feel the violation of privacy that she suffered in the sanctity of her home. The trauma that she has gone through these last few days.

What happened to her could easily happen to anyone of us, male or female. In this day and age, anyone can take a photo or a video anywhere. In her case it might have been an ex-boyfriend.

In another scenario, it could be the maid who has worked for you for the last 10 years, your spouse, a relative or even a guest staying in your house.

Are we going to allow ourselves to become victims or are we going to do something about it? Our representatives have to remember that the people elected them to serve and govern the country in the people’s interest.

I urge all Malaysians, to phone the elected representatives of their constituencies, both state and parliamentary, and state in no uncertain terms that they denounce what has happened to Elizabeth Wong. That she is a victim of a heinous crime and should not resign.

We, the citizens of Malaysia, must stand up and put our foot down against the use of underhanded tactics to coerce a person out of office. No person should have to go through what Wong is going through.

HL Ooi: Dear Elizabeth Wong, don’t resign. I as a voting Malaysian citizen do not blame you in any way for this intrusion into your private life, but instead condemn the violation committed by whoever circulated those photos to the public.

There are still enough people in Malaysia who have a sense of decency and do not blame the victim for a wrong done to her.

Stay strong and do not give in to attacks by feeble minds and those with a hypocritical sense of morality that belongs to the Dark Ages.

A Woman And A True Human Spirit: I was indeed truly traumatised reading about the cunningly- crafted fate of the Selangor exco for tourism, environment and consumer affairs Elizabeth Wong.

This was not just a cheap battle but an unfair battle too. Wong was stabbed from the back, which is unbecoming among honourable fighters.

But amazingly, the statement issued by Elizabeth today is strong, convincing and most importantly sincere amidst the throbbing episode she must have had to endure.

I may have her private photos tossed on my table and while some idiots will delight upon this very idea, never will my eyes stray to view them, for I find this totally disgraceful, inhumane and a violation of the human spirit.

To Elizabeth Wong, I express my profound solidarity in this grave violation of your human rights and values.

I pray the ones who sold their souls to the devils in causing so much torment to you and your family will pay dearly for this.

Peter Yew: We need to draw a clear line between what is immoral and what is not. Surely what Elizabeth Wong does in her privacy is her business and to have her modesty outraged by an intruder, even a known person is really demeaning and cowardly.

And who is Khir Toyo to be so righteous that he demanded her resignation? Are you so saintly as you make yourself out to be? Or were you trying to be heroic for your own political career progression?

What has happened was politically motivated to kill off Wong's career. It would have been helpful if she was corrupt, inefficient and despicable but she was not.

Losing Elizabeth this way means we are losing good politicians and we have to put a stop to it. Well- meaning voters must stand up against this kind of crass behaviour and if a by-election is to be held in Bukit Lanjan, may the response be loud and clear.

Arianna: It is sad indeed that Elizabeth Wong has to quit through no fault of hers. Home sweet home is probably no longer that sweet when privacy is but a political game for people who are prepared to stoop so low for selfish gains.

I would have expected Wong to fight this out instead of bowing to pressure and offer to resign. She took the easy way out and did what her political enemies and that despicable person who took her pictures, wanted her to do.

In the end, she disappointed so many of her constituents who voted for her to be their wakil rakyat. She simply resigns instead of fighting and suing the man who brought her shame. After all, it concerns her right to privacy.

She should fight it out and sue everyone involved as a deterrent to anyone who wants to make quick buck and gain political mileage out of other people's personal life.
