I fully support Karpal Singh's right to take the Sultan of Perak to court to seek a ruling on the constitutionality of HRH's removal of Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin as menteri besar and the appointment of Zambry Abdul Kadir while there is still a legitimate MB in place.

At the same time he should also seek the court's ruling as to whether HRH is legally or at least constitutionally obliged to accept and act on the advice of his MB to dissolve the state assembly when it is so requested of HRH.

No one is above the law including the king. I do not see how Umno Youth can possibly come to a conclusion that Karpal has committed treason or sedition. These guys are either very myopic in their views or choose to cherry pick when it suits their agenda.

Since Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (while as Umno president and PM) had established the Special Court to hear cases against the rulers in the first place, then how can it possibly be considered treasonable or seditious for Karpal to bring a legal action against HRH to determine the legality of such an important issue when a mechanism exists for just such a case.?

Why didn't Umno Youth castigate Tun Mahathir when he established the Special Court then? The whole legitimacy of the Perak government rests on the court's determination of these issues.

A prominent bank sued the late Tuanku Jaafar in the Special Court on a business matter and duly obtained a judgment against the late Tuanku. Why didn't Umno Youth then demonstrate to champion the dignity of Tuanku Jaafar.

In fact, not one Umno member stood up for Tuanku Jaafar nor said anything simply because they too recognise that even royalty must be responsible for their own commitments.

More recently, why didn't Umno Youth say anything when PM Abdullah Ahmad Badawi didn't accept certain menteri besar appointments made by the sultans of Perlis and Terengganu, until he had no choice but to back down otherwise no state government would be formed in those two states. Isn't what Pak Lah did treason as well?

These allegations of sedition and treason and the championing the position of HRH (who I may add never asked Umno Youth to champion his case) is obviously intended to channel away the heat and spotlight on the unconstitutionality of the appointment of the new Perak MB and exco and the back-door shenanigans and double-deal-making of Najib Abdul Razak in the whole sordid affair.

And it does no credit to Khairy Jamaluddin to see him leading this pack of Umno Youth rabble-rousers. For a sophisticated Western educated gentleman who has been exposed to the highest democratic ideals having studied in the very bastions of democracy in the UK and USA, I would have thought Khairy would understand or at the very least remained neutral on this issue.

Instead he has chosen to take the position which will endear him to the Umno Youth grassroots come party elections day.

Khairy criticised PKR as to the moral standing of their two former Perak councillors (now independents) when they were charged with corruption but now doesn't have a thing to say when these two very same independents (still under corruption charges) are roped in to form the Perak govenment Shame, shame, shame.

It really brings a sense of hopelessness to think that these same Umno Youth rabble- rousers may some day in the future be our political masters. God forbid.
