PKR: No defections in Kedah

After the party-hopping mayhem in Perak, Kedah seems to be the next target of the frog-culture. Two PKR assemblypersons - Tan Wei Shu (Bakar Arang), and Lim Soo Nee (Kulim), was rumoured to be the next assemblypersons to defect.

However, PKR central committee member Low Chee Chong (right) told Malaysiakini that a meeting was held with the two state reps Tuesday night along with PKR vice-president Dr Lee Boon Chye and Penang State Exco Low Choo Khiang.

He confirmed that the duo have no intention to defect but had expressed unhappiness that their opinions were not heard by the Kedah state government and the state PKR leadership.

Low said the two assemblypersons were disappointed with some policies implemented by the state government. They cited the 50% reserved quota for bumiputras and an order for pork stalls to install tinted glass window.

The order to pork sellers is still on but they are allowed to remove the tinted window when they are trading.

As for the 50% reserved quota policy, the state government has agreed to enforce it only until March this year.

"The two feel that internal communication in the party is not ideal and they would like their opinions and views to be taken seriously," said Low.

Meanwhile, a party source said the two assemblypersons were "isolated" in both the Kedah government and the state PKR.

The source however, commented that the rumours surrounding Tan (left) and Lim's defections could be an attempt by the duo to have themselves heard by the Kedah government.

"They could be using the change in the Perak government as an opportunity for those in authority to take note of their grievances," added the source.

Traitor unmasked

Low further explained that Lim was also upset when no action was taken by the PKR leadership after he exposed a ‘traitor’ within their ranks who had persuaded him to defect.

He added Lim (left) had named the person and that there was a misunderstanding as the alleged ‘traitor’ has been sacked from the party.

"Probably he (Lim) did not know that action has been taken," Low said adding that Lim had also talked about the BN’s offer to him. What was allegedly mentioned was a few million ringgit plus an exco position.

Lim was also surprised that a lawsuit against him involving a business venture which took place six years ago was also brought up. However, he has consulted his lawyer regarding the case.

Yesterday, Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Razak said that he would help Lim out of his predicament as he (Lim) was a Pakatan member.
