I refer to the letter 'Emphasise spiritual and moral aspects of religion' by See All. As a Muslim, I take offence at his attempt to trivialise the issue of halal in Islam. Is he suggesting that Muslims in Malaysia should treat it as a trivial matter simply because a man from somewhere in the Middle East told him that it was a small matter?

As we are living in a multi-religious society, please be sensitive to the religious issues and needs of other people. I don't understand why some people are so worked up by Muslims who are simply trying to perform their religious obligations.

As in any religion, there are Muslims who are pious and obedient and there are those who are not. However, a true Muslim will not trivialise the halal issue.

Contrary to the writer's and his Arab friend's belief, religion should be practised by observing one's religious obligations and callings. Not the other way around.
