I wish to record publicly, my thorough disappointment with the actions and political stand of PAS. Any political party within Asean that preaches ethno-religious exclusivism to the detriment of inter-ethnic ties within Asean, is a candidate party for the label of "subversive".

I wish to emphasise that PAS leaders cannot possibly be so naive to think that their vision of an Islamic state in which non-Muslims are alienated from a socio-political life, inspired by Middle-Eastern examples, will be tolerated by other Asean and Asia-Pacific nations.

Moreover, PAS has failed to provide any economic, technological and foreign policy agenda that will further enhance Malaysia's standing within Asean and Asia-Pacific. It would appear that PAS exists only for the sole purpose of implementing the hudud in one fell swoop, overnight - which Umno correctly points out to be unreasonable and untenable, given Malaysia's population statistics and Asean's environment.

I simply cannot understand PAS' obssession with the hudud, which borders on the psycho-pathological. There must be a billion other issues which can be taken up as political ones! As much as I would like to say positive things about PAS, I am compelled to finally conclude that Asean simply cannot accept a political party like PAS.
