PKR yet to receive quit letters from duo

PKR secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim today stated that the two missing state representatives of Changkat Jering and Behrang were still members of the party.
PKR secretary-general Salehuddin Hashim today stated that the two missing state representatives of Changkat Jering and Behrang were still members of the party.
He dismissed speculation that Osman Jailu and Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi have left the party to become independents.
"Till now, we (PKR) have not received any resignations from them and there are no records showing they have left the party or joined any other party.
"This means they are still PKR members and there is no reason for us to expel them from the party. We are confident they are still with us," he told Bernama.
Salehuddin added that efforts to reach them had not been fruitful till now.
Osman (Changkat Jering) and Jamaluddin (Behrang) have been reported "missing" since Jan 26. Their seats were subsequently declared vacant by Perak speaker V Sivakumar after he had received their resignation letters.
The duo however had challenged the validity of the letters and the Election Commission today overruled Sivakumar's decision in declaring the seats vacant.
Jamaluddin, 52, is also the state executive councillor for Entrepreneur Development, Cooperatives, Agriculture and Plantations while Osman, 57, for Tourism, Human Development and Non-Governmental Organisations.
It has been widely speculated that Jamaluddin and Osman were planning to defect to Barisan Nasional.
Upset with leaders' attitude
Salehuddin's clarification on the membership of the two comes right after a report in the AgendaDaily website today which quoted Jamaluddin as saying that they have become independents.
Jamaluddin said that there were no reasons for him and Osman to remain in PKR and have decided to leave the party.
He said that he was disappointed with the attitude of party leaders who had released their letters to the party leadership to the state speaker.
"That letter was kept by the Perak PKR. How can the resignation letter be in the hands of the speaker if not given by the party," he asked.
He however did not say if the both of them would eventually join Umno.
