The Star led with a news on that the two Malaysians in Guantanamo Bay will be charged with terrorism activities in US courts.

New Straits Times headlined the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's insistence conduct investigation on vote-buying in Umno. The party's disciplinary board however feels otherwise.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia reported on Umno president Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's decision to enlarge the party's disciplinary board to overcome money politics.

Berita Harian quoted party president Abdullah as saying that the various wings of the party will remain, in response to a proposal that these wings are abolished to eradicate money politics.

Chinese newspapers

China Press reported that the state government in Negeri Sembilan might be headed by Pakatan Rakyat soon. It said that at least three or four BN state representatives were planning to defect to Pakatan.

Nanyang Siang Pau led with Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak taking over as Perak Umno chief, replacing former Perak MB Tajol Rosli.

New Straits Times commented that the rejected of the proposal to dissolve Umno's various wings was expected.

Similarly Berita Harian also noted that the abolishing of the wings would not necessarily solve the problems of money politics in Umno.

Sin Chew Daily said that the government needed to execute the economic stimulus package immediately as a move to regain the public's trust.

Nanyang Siang Pau urged life insurance companies to be in the side of the clients in the face of the global economy crisis.

Malaysia Nanban commented on the rising number retrenchments as a result of the ongoing global financial crisis.
