Having read Open Mind's ('Options are in abundance for those who will see', Nov 9) reply to Farish A Noor's ('No options in sight', Nov 7), I could not help but burst out laughing.

If Open Mind really thinks that the success of the Iranian revolution was proven by the fact that the Iranian football team made it to the World Cup finals, what about all the other teams that actually won the World Cup?

What does he have to say about France, Britain, Germany, Brazil, Italy and other 'kafir' (infidel) countries? Does this mean that Islamism is a doomed political option because it cannot produce decent football players?
