Forget the Great Satan
But as Muslims, why should we be concerned with the 'Great Satan'? Why spend all the time talking about the US, discussing how 'evil' the Americans and Jews are, when we should be discussing more important matters, e.g., ways to promote unity, ways to develop the Islamic countries? Wouldn't that be more worthwhile - to make ourselves stronger?
The Taliban/Osama bin Laden has issued a jihad. But they have no authority to do so, they cannot assume that by issuing a jihad, all Muslims must obey their decision, which is riddled with inconsistencies as well.
I am no supporter of the American bombings, but I do not support the Taliban. They even came into power in a violent way. As a Muslim, the only impression I get is that they need support from Muslim countries, and they are playing on the emotions of disenchanted Muslims to get a wider base of support.
It is sad when someone prefers Hitler to have won the war. There is no way his acts were justified, even if they were against Jews. The Muslims in the Middle East may be at war against the Israelis, but that does not mean that all Jews are evil. It does not mean that the innocent can be killed based on their race. Even the prophet lived with Jews in harmony.
And so what if Hitler had won the war? The only reason he went into an alliance with the Ottoman empire was because he needed their support. Once he had Britain and Russia in his hands, he would have targetted the Muslims. Aryan supremacy, remember?
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is not perfect, but he has and is doing a lot for the country. On the one side, you complain about the US controlling other governments and yet Mahathir is one of the few vocal leaders who dare voice opposition against US policies.
Of course, we can't take more drastic measures than that. We have to think of the entire Malaysian population when it comes to matters of international diplomacy. That is, after all, what diplomacy is all about.
