I totally agree with Muslim Student 'Disagreeing without being disagreeable' (Nov 7). A mature democracy should be able to field criticisms and handle differing opinions with confidence, without being touchy, defensive and resentful. Malaysia has not reached that level of maturity.

Malaysia is not a mature democracy. But that doesn't mean Malaysians can't progress at all. I am positive that we will become a good, responsible democracy.

Not along ago, we only had two points of view in the media: pro-Barisan Nasional and anti-BN. Now we have several points of view. That is good progress. I might not agree with some of the views, but the important thing is, I do not want anybody to pander to my prejudices.
