Chinese newspapers

Nanyang Siang Pau headlined New Era College senate head Yap Sin Tian was assaulted over a dissatisfaction with the failure to renew college head Kua Kia Soong.

Sin Chew Daily led with a report with a quote by Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Raak that "Chinese primary school students love the country too".

Oriental Daily reported that New Era College's new principal Pua Eng Chong as saying that the public should work together to assist the college and the Chinese community to move forward.

China Press headlined on the news on Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak handing RM 23.76 million to 237 Chinese primary schools.

Tamil newspapers

Tamil Nesan led with warning by Indian army general that it was ready for a war with its neighbour Pakistan. It also reported that the cabinet was briefed by MIC on the situation in Sri Lanka.

Makkal Osai reported on a woman's suicide bid which was thwarted by a fireman in Johor. It also quoted DPM Najib as saying that all schools with be getting direct funding from the government.

Malaysia Nanban reported that an inquest on the death of local actress K Sujatha will begin on Feb 13.

Editorials

The New Straits Times commented that Dap's threats to leave Pakatan Rakyat over the hudud issue shows that the opposition alliance was united by common enmity more than anything else.

Beita Harian mentioned that the spat between Dap and PAS over the hudud issue will bring about the downfall of Pakatan Rakyat.

China Press expressed the gratitude of the Chinese community to Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak for funding the Chinese schools.
