I find Suki Su's letter 'Isn't it ironical?' very offensive and insensitive. The writer seems to imply that the tragedy of children dying in the streets in Afghanistan is somehow caused by the Taliban's destruction of the Bamiyan statues.

How the writer makes this comparison is beyond me, since the people of Afghanistan did not elect the Taliban, nor did they have anything directly to do with any of the Taliban actions.

It is understandable that one may be upset over the seemingly insensitive nature of the authorities handling of the temple issue. However, the writer does not have any right to draw a parallel with the suffering of the Afghan people. Has the writer ever gone hungry for a day?

The writer is right when he/she says "Stupidity or ignorance is no justification" and I say "People in glass houses should not throw stones".
