Feb 13 - Inquest into actress' death
An inquest into the death of local actress K Sujatha will commence at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's court on Feb 13, revealed PKR parliamentarian S Manickavasagam today.
K Sujatha died under mysterious circumstances two years ago and opposition MP for Kapar has consistently claimed that foul play involving some well-known persons was involved.
An inquest into the death of local actress K Sujatha will commence at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's court on Feb 13, revealed PKR parliamentarian S Manickavasagam today.
The Kapar MP said he was informed of the matter by the police.
"I am glad that an inquest will take place. We have been putting tremendous pressure on the authorities for this and finally it is here," he told Malaysiakini.
Sujatha, 29, had died under mysterious circumstances on June 25 two years ago at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.
She had worked as a secretary to MIC president S Samy Vellu's son, Vel Paari in his capacity as chief executive officer of the party's investment arm Maika Holdings.
Proof of 'foul play'
Manickavasagam has claimed that he has proof of foul play being involved and has linked Vel Paari to the case. He has also lodged a series of police reports on this. 
Vel Paari, who has denied any involvement, was also grilled by the police for five hours in connection with the case.
Manickavasagam has also accused former Sentul police chief K Kumaran of "covering up" the matter due to his "strong ties" with Vel Paari and other MIC leaders.
Kumaran later filed a defamation suit against Manickavasagam.
Meanwhile, Manickavasagam said he would request the Bar Council to monitor the inquest.
He is also confident that "top guns" like Vel Paari would be called in to testify and expressed hope that "the truth" would be revealed.
"Everywhere I go, people tell me not to forget about Sujatha. This inquest is very important for them," he said.
