I refer to the Malaysiakini report Anwar can be PM, but needs to tone down.

Zaid Ibrahim is right. Anwar should stop grandstanding. If he wants to win the hearts and minds of more Malaysians who are still suspicious of him, he should not jump on the bandwagon of Israel-bashing every time there is a conflict in the Middle East.

In his comparison of Israel to Malaysia, we see an opportunist attempt at popular rhetoric. Anwar can do better. Some semblance of a maturity and a balanced view from a man whose political party stands for justice would have helped the peace cause and his own credibility.

I am no Israel lackey but I can't stand the Malaysians who run amok against Israel and the US in the name of Muslim solidarity. There is nothing religious about the present conflict between Israel and Hamas. Why should Muslims take it upon themselves that it is all about religion?

Hamas is a terror organisation. Would Malaysians also support Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaida if Israel had attacked them? Hamas is at loggerheads with the PLO's Al Fatah and let's not forget those guys fight it out violently and that there is the occasional killing.

Malaysia's leaders all talk of sanctions against Israel and former leader Dr Mahathir Mohammed even speaks of boycotting the US. If the US drops Malaysia out of its economic radar, you can guess what would happen to the country. It goes to show how reckless Mahathir is.

Those people know that the US is a democratic country and tolerates freedom of speech and that is why Malaysians dare to ‘talk big’ against the Americans and their leaders. How come we never hear them criticising China that has come down strong on Muslim dissidents in Central Asia? How come there is no protest?

The fact is those hypocrites are also grandstanding. They are like bullies who will pick on someone they know will not retaliate for one reason or another. Malaysia is only a small fry that can pick only on tadpoles. In a more open environment, their ideas will be shot down by their opponents given the freedom to debate openly.

Yes, Anwar Ibrahim can be prime minister but of what sort? He should stop boasting about taking over but just do it. Talk is cheap. Malaysia does not need another Mahathir-style leader but a team of good leaders.

Najib Razak is too dirtied by the Altantuya scandal to be a credible Malaysian leader. Who wants a tainted leader? Can Malaysia afford to compromise the integrity of its national leader?

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has already tarnished his own integrity with the flagrant lies that are now on public record. These guys talk about religion and tell lies. How long are they going to get away with it?

Still, Anwar Ibrahim is the one who can bring about a change of government if he changes his ways and be more sincere; he can win the people's support. The rakyat have had enough of the Barisan Nasional's arrogance and bullying ways.

Look at the MCA now and see how the new leader-cum-dictator tries to control The Star newspaper and a democratically-elected leader Chua Soi Lek.

Umno, MCA, MIC and its cohorts need to be put to sleep. In fact, they don't even deserve to be in the opposition. I hope more Malaysians will get into politics and provide better alternatives than the present crop of pompous politicians.

Malaysia is fast becoming a basket case and the liars are all still fiddling with the figures and pretending Malaysia will not be badly affected by the world economic recession even when you see tens of thousands of factories in China being shut down, and Chinese workers rioting. Europe and US all show downturns and layoffs and they say Malaysia will not have a recession. Bah!

Anwar is still the best alternative but the man has got to be more humble. Pride comes before a fall. We don't want Pakatan Rakyat to take over and be a pseudo-Barisan Nasional with the same old hang-ups of cronyism and corruption.

Politicians must know that their days of playing ‘Tuan’ are over. Reports that a Malaysian VIP assaulted a Singapore couple and no one dared touch him beause he is a VIP are so sickening and symptomatic of the Malaysian disease.

Mahathir can be thanked for taking the immunity away from the royals for such similar conduct.

If people want a better government, then they must vote for change. Don't just complain and then say, ‘I am not registered to vote lah’.
