Are we seeing the beginning of the demise of Keadilan, like how Semangat 46 eventually faded into oblivion?

It is so frustrating to see so much party in-fighting. Where are the lofty ideals and sense of unity which prevailed before? It seems that the party leaders have lost these qualities and allowed their individualistic and selfish ambitions to override the common cause of fighting for a fairer, democratic Malaysia.

The formation of Keadilan was a breath of fresh air in Malaysian politics, and many of us had hoped that at long last we could have an untainted multiracial political party which might bring down the dictatorial Barisan Nasional.

Keadilan's deputy president Dr Chandra Muzaffar's decision not to seek re-election is a tremendous let-down. I think it is a selfish of him to leave the leadership when he has not even groomed a successor or stabilised the party.

For the sake of the survival of the party, the other leaders should try to unite and work out a proper succession. Don't let down thousands of idealistic youths and supporters who have worked so hard to bring Keadilan to its present position.

Perhaps former vice-president Marina Yusoff, who left because of differences with Chandra, should return!
