I am completely aghast and appalled by views and arguments put up by "Complete Install" ('Afghanistan: why blame PAS', Oct 15). Allow me to reflect on some of his points:

1) PAS does not support Taliban, but the Afghan people. If this is really so, PAS should join in to fight the Taliban. The Taliban are the cause of all the sufferings of the Afghan people for the past 6 years. Did PAS do anything to help in the sufferings of the people? To claim now that this is a jihad just because the Talibans are Muslims is downright naive.

2) What is there to proof when Osama bin Laden has publicly been indicted for other attacks (before WTC) such as the Embassy bombings and USS Cole. Osama has also publicly pronounced that he has called a jihad war against America and that "any American citizen is a legitimate target".

I agree that terrorism and terrorist should be condemned everywhere and anywhere it happened. We should not reward acts of terrorism. All the terrorists should be punished and brought to justice.

PAS should broaden its outlook and perspective instead of consistently showing it's narrow minded stands, what more when you have people like Mahfuz calling for some ludicrous action in calling off diplomatic ties with the US! PAS is not being blamed for not submitting to the international media's version. It is rather because of PAS' own myopic stands and interpretations.
