State your stand on hudud, Samy to Anwar

He said Anwar, who is also the PKR de facto leader, should not remain silent on the matter.
"He should explain his stand and that of the party he represents (PKR) so that the people, especially the non-Muslims who supported the opposition, will be able to evaluate and come to a decision on whether to continue to support the opposition," he said in a statement today.
Samy Vellu said in the last March 8 general election, many Indians had carried PAS flags "but is this how PAS and other opposition parties reward them."
He said it was clear that the Indian Malaysians were opposed to the implementation of the hudud laws.
'Clear the air'
The MIC president also claimed that during his visit to the parliamentary seat of Kuala Terengganu recently to oversee the setting up of MIC's operations room in preparation for the Jan 17 by-election, many had complained to him that Indian, especially Hindu religious songs and cultures, were allegedly barred from being practiced openly.
"This is contrary to their (opposition's) earlier promises during the March 8 general election where they openly said in their manifesto that all races will be allowed to practice their religions and cultures freely," he said.
With the latest developments, Samy Vellu said Anwar should "clear the air" on the issue.
"Failure to do so would only prove that Anwar and the opposition were only taking the people on a long ride," he said.
He said there was already a 'silent protest' among the Indians since PAS vice-president Husam Musa had reportedly said that PAS has not forgotten its aim of implementing the hudud laws in the country.
