Some DAP top leaders like life adviser Dr Chen Man Hin and deputy chairperson Karpal Singh must retire and quit active politics to bear responsibility for DAP's disastrous defeat in the Sarawak state election. These old, tired and unimaginative politicians must now admit their limitations and incapacities to inspire the people in new realities.

They are now like loose cannons that shoot without purpose or direction. For example, Chen has not only brought shame to DAP but inflicted damage on PAS, Keadilan and PRM. Most of the statements of that old loose cannon have backfired on his own party and its former allies.

The mainstream media of course love to quote Chen and Karpal to show that they are fair to the opposition while sowing confusion and distrust among leaders, members and supporters of opposition parties. Before a greater and more ignominious defeat in 2004, these old men in DAP must quit now to give way to younger leaders in the next two years to repair the damage done.
