Selangor PAS commissioner Hasan Ali today admitted that he had some differences with his former deputy Khalid Samad, who was axed from the party's state leadership last month.

Breaking his silence on the issue at a press conference in Shah Alam, Hasan said it is 'perfect timing' for him to re-shuffle the state line-up to make the committee "as perfect as possible".

Stating that differences are normal, he said: "I believe the committee should be as perfect as possible and members must be on the same page.”

He also noted that the decision to drop Khalid was unanimous.

"The reshuffle would provide the space to every leader especially elected representatives in Selangor to concentrate and be fully committed to their jobs and responsibility," he added.

Different views welcomed

Asked if Khalid, who is also Shah Alam MP, was dropped for being too vocal, Hasan denied this and reiterated that he welcomes different views.

hasan ali hassan ali"We welcome that (differences) in our party. Sometimes, there are good policies but different approaches. There are some people who prefer to turn to the media (to settle the disagreement).

"There are also people who like to settle it privately, and I prefer to do it this way," he asserted.

Khalid, who was deputy commissioner II was ranked No 3 in Selangor PAS after Hasan and Osman Sabran, the deputy commissioner I.

The shocking decision to drop Khalid and Saari was made at the Dewan Harian or management committee meeting, and was endorsed by the state liaison meeting the same day.

A source in Selangor PAS told Malaysiakini that the move to drop the duo was proposed by Hasan himself, who allegedly ‘dominated’ the meeting.

According to the source, some division chiefs did not agree with the decision, but remained silent as they did not have a chance to speak up.
