Pullout a face-saving tactic by DAP
In its numerous media statements, DAP kept on repeating certain clauses as a psychological warfare against Islam (an example: "a vote for the Barisan Alternatif was not a vote for an Islamic state"); just like the American media like CNN and ABC which repeatedly showed the video footage of a turbaned and bearded man - Osama bin Laden - holding a gun, implying his terrorist inclination. It is so convenient for others to paint Islam in a negative light as Muslims of today are arguably weak and divided.
Now we realise that the so-called opposition to the Islamic state by DAP leaders, especially Mr Karpal Singh and Dr Chen Man Hin, was just a decoy, like a Malay saying, "pukul anak, sindir menantu" (literally, punishing the son/daughter, but actually targetting the in-law).
The main reason for the pullout is clear; DAP realised that its political continuity is being undermined by Keadilan's existence as many key leaders had left to join the latter. So DAP decided to do something about it, and it was done with minimum damage to its standing with the Chinese.
