I refer to the letter A Muslim's duty to struggle against the bad.

In his letter, he used the principle of amar maaruf, nahi munkar as a premise that Muslims are called to ‘do something’ when considering that an act is against the principles or teachings of Islam.

He encourages non-Muslims and ‘some modern Muslims’ not to ridicule the values that are adopted by Muslims.

I strongly agree with him. I am one of the ‘Free People’ - a term I prefer to use instead of non- Muslim. Personally, I would like to identify myself as a positive noun - not a negative noun.

Over the past two decades, Muslims have increasinly become more assertive about their beliefs and wanting to see things to fall in place for what they believe is correct. We, the Free People, usually accustomed to multi-culturalism and diversity after being around for more than five thousand years, welcome and respect their equal right to voice and freedom.

I believe that the writer believes that his religion is the best and thus he continues to hold steadfast to his religion. He is acting out in what he believes to be true. However, clashes are bound to occur as the Free People's beliefs and value systems are not fully correlated with those of the Muslims.

If the writer believes that Inul 'the gyrating female contraption' is acting against Islam and wishes to seek to ban her, I support his use of the ‘Three Steps’ and his statement that there is a group now taking Step Two.

But I also believe that the writer would also seeked to ban Avril Lavigne, Gwen Stefani plus the Pussy Cat Dolls. What I would hope from the writer is that he would agree that no one has the right to use threats of violence in their protests.

We, the Free People, may not have the amar maaruf, nahi munkar principle though some of us would adopt it, like Lim Guan Eng. Or we would rely of God's gifts of reason and freedom to decide.

We believe that God created us and allows us to make personal choices. The Free People also believe is struggling against the bad. That's why some of us were keen to follow's Irene Fernandez's case. We also have role models like Gandhi and Mother Theresa.

We also seek to hunt down false self-proclaimed prophets such as Jim Jones and cults such as the Branch Davidian. Cult manifestations include their prophets claiming to have been granted sexual rights to their female followers (Branch Davidian), pedophilia, and the tendency to kill deserters (refer to Jim Jones).

Thus, we, the Free People, do seek to go against injustices and bad. However, we may have a different focus as we go for issues such as basic human rights, social justices and would defend everybody's rights despite their background.

For example, we seek to represent Lina Joy. We support her right to make personal choices because she is a human and a Malaysian. We would like to seek justice and fairness with no exemptions. For example, America's intervention in Bosnia prevented more Muslims from being killed by the Serbians' ethnic cleansing.

In conclusion, I invite the writer and all others to also be involved in actively seeking social justice.
