US must stop war
The US does not have any choice but to attack Afghanistan and maybe some other countries to relieve Americans' anger. The opposition can easily accuse him of being very lenient on punishing the supposed attackers. Some US officials expressed their readiness to see some innocent victims pay for the attacks since the major aim is to claim vengeance.
If so, there is no difference between the philosophy of the US government and that of the attackers. Making the innocent pay for what some culprits have committed is the biggest mistake that the US can make. This is exactly the same thing that the terrorists did. If the US is ready to attack even innocent people, it is then as barbaric as the terrorists.
However, there are also good Americans who, though grieving deeply over their lost families, friends and countrymen, have denounced any military retaliation. Such American people deserve to be called the real heroes, more so when compared with those who want to see more blood being shed.
The latest development is the fact that the government of Afghanistan has pledged to strike back if the US attacks. Thus, the cycle of violence will never stop. This is what Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad has warned of.
We should believe that the solution to this problem is through chanting the songs of love and not spreading the message of hate. The US has been involved in so many wars and so many bombings in different parts of the world. Its fighter aeroplanes have killed hundreds of thousands of people.
We should believe that the Americans and all the peoples of the world have the right to live in peace. War will stop if the US resorts to wisdom instead of war.
