I refer to the Malaysiakini reports Fatwa council bans lesbian sex.

I am appalled to read about the one sided and double standards being practiced by the National Fatwa Council, specifically the edict upon the so-called ‘tomboys’. If the compelling reasons for the fatwa is that such dressing up can lead to lesbianism and a non-compliance to religious laws and practices, then it should be spread across the board and not just target the women.

What about men who have long hair like women? Doesn't such behavior also have the potential to lead men into homosexuality? I have seen with my own eyes at many company annual dinners, men who have gone through plastic surgery and now have breasts, performing fire-eating acts on stage wearing two-piece bikinis.

They are called ‘Paper Dolls’. These men are making a living on top of being homosexual in public and there is absolutely nothing mentioned or breathed about this?

Just walk around Bukit Bintang and you will see hair salons full of these men wearing women’s clothing. Why is one eye is being closed to men dressing up and behaving like women while the other eye is zoomed in on the so-called tomboys? When is this gender discrimination going to stop?

This ridiculous culture of just tarring anything that is perceived to be wrong while having utter disregard for basic human rights is one of the biggest reasons why Malaysia is slowly disintegrating into nothing but a laughing stock.

And now there is also a fatwa on Yoga. What else is next on the list? A fatwa on Hindi songs? There are so many Hindi songs that have Hindu-orientated lyrics as well. And the Bollywood movies also have many Hindu-orientated scenes as well. They also have very sexual scenes as well and so why is there no fatwa on these things.

I mean, there is radio station on Astro called Hindi power. Many lyrics in these songs have Hindu -related words in Sanskrit. Is there not a threat that the Muslims can become influenced by these songs and movies and deviate from Islam? Why no fatwa on this?

What about the Punjabi suits that the Muslim women also wear here in Malaysia? Why not a fatwa on that also? What about the origin of the Malay language. Look into its history and you will find out how thousands of Malay words came from Sanskrit. Sanskrit is the language of ancient Hindu text of the Bhavagad Gita. So that means there also has to be a fatwa on Bahasa Malaysia.

What about tai chi and Qi Gong? The list can go on and on and on. Where do we draw the line? Malaysia has a culture that has evolved over time mixing the three major races into one. There are Indian elements in Chinese and Malay cooking. There are Chinese elements also in Malay and Indian Cooking. There are Malay elements in Chinese and Indian Cooking.

Why is it now that there is also ang pow giving during Hari Raya and Deepavalli? Ang pow giving is a Chinese tradition. Theirs is a red packet. Now we have purple packet for the Indians and green packets for the Malays.

Why no fatwa on this? Everything from hand phones to computers to medicine had been invented and produced by people of various races. We are all world citizens. Be fair and just but most of all, stop bullying women like they have no value or a sense of their own.

For god's sakes they are also human beings. I am a man and I feel that it has been long overdue for women to be given the same level field to play on. They need to be empowered because for society to progress, both man and woman must have an equal platform.

The time of bullying them into submitting to selfish motives has long gone. Please rethink your edicts.
