Is MGG Pillai able to relate to the working class he mentioned through his working class background that landed him overseas at Harvard University?

If in 1977, terrorists attacked Harvard while he was sitting on the steps posing for his Niemann Foundation for Journalism Fellowship photo, and he perished, would his last thoughts have been "Well, the US deserved it for their foreign policy"? Certainly our (I am a US citizen) foreign policy was much worse then.

If he were in the US, I would agree with Voltaire, who said "I may disagree with what you have to say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." I will just now disapprove of what Pillai says.

As he brings up his experience in Vietnam, does he think that those who perished on Sept 11 at the World Trade Center in New York City were more likely to have supported the war in Vietnam when it happened, or been protesting it? Or perhaps most of them were not even born yet...

I agree, as do most, that the attack on the WTC was not a criminal act - it was an act of war by a political entity. If you want to drape Islam over it, and then colour the US response to the attack as an attack on Islam, go ahead. Not too many in the world will listen though . . . Perhaps 10 years ago people would buy into that idea, but its time has passed.
