Quality deteriorating
The edge that made you guys different from mainstream media is slowly deteriorating. In my opinion, the rot started when you guys started to cut and paste those international news from AFP, no originality!
If you want to report international news, do it from your own perspectives. That's what we readers want.
Coming from Sarawak, I was also quite disappointed with your coverage of the upcoming state election. Some of the news coming out are outdated and too conservative. Is it because your hands were tied by the Home Ministry or something? Nothing fresh at all.
I for one would like to know what happened to prominent political oppositions of the yesteryear like Alli Kawi of Pajar, Tun Rahman of Permas, or even Daniel Tajem of PBDS now.
On the other hand, I would like to praise MGG Pillai on his recent articles on the attacks on the US; it took guts to write such stuff. That is part of the reasons why I log on to your website every day.
Hopefully, your editorial staff have the same view as mine and will make the necessary changes that you deem fit. Overall, thanks for being there every day to fulfill the need for alternative local news reporting.
Editor's note: Malaysiakini would very much like to cover international news one day. But for now, we cannot afford to set up a bureau in Sarawak, let alone New York City. We will continue to do our best with the limited resources - both human and financial - that we have at our disposal.
