No person should have to be exposed to be victimised by such horrifying acts of terrorism as we have seen in the US on Tuesday.

The center of capitalism has come crumbling down. I see this as a sign that we must start investigating and encouraging alternative methods of governance - that which is inclusive of all people.

My initial response was sadness for the victims of this tragedy but at the same time I was not surprised. It was only a matter of time before the world's 'superpower' was challenged.

In the name of democracy and capitalism, many nations, especially smaller economies, have had to adhere to military attacks or trade sanctions enforced by the US. In the name of capitalism/profit, communities worldwide have had to deal with oppression, displacement and human rights violations.

The rising protests from communities worldwide, observed in Seattle and Quebec City for an example, should be reason enough for us, as citizens of the world to stop what we're doing, how we function and start asking questions.

People are frustrated. There is a disease in our system that we must eradicate. This is not 'like a movie'. It is not a simple case of the good guy versus the bad guy. There is a lot more involved here then what the mainstream media is revealing. There are greater issues here that must be addressed.

I think it is safe to say that there is increasing hostility towards the US among many nations and individuals due to the often threatening and coercive tactics used by the US on smaller economies on such things as trade.

I don't think we can place blame on one nation, one group of people or one person. In a sense we are all to blame, as we subscribe to a system that propagates oppression, violence, and capitalism.

It is sad that at a time with such immense technology, information and a supposedly more intelligent and advanced society, we continue to make the same, if not worse mistakes. Has history not taught us that wars are more destructive than constructive?

So, let us honour the lives lost in this tragedy by taking the right action for the future well-being of all nations and mother earth. Let us not continue to make the same mistakes.
