Saddened by antipathy

As a Malaysian living in the US, I am in tremendous shock over the attack on New York City and Washington DC. I am saddened by the fact that an act of terrorism was committed on tens of thousands of people.
I don't understand why Dr N's letter ('US tragedy: points to ponder', Sept 12) stated that just because it happened in the US, it was in the news.
Also, of course the US will protect its own interest; all countries do that.
But to say that the US deserved this action is sickening. I do agree that changes in foreign policy are needed but terrorism is not the answer. It saddens me to think that not all people feel for the Americans. I feel sad and angry at the people behind this act.
