We have been told too many times that "Malaysians demand first-class transport system but would only pay third-class fares".

We have the following rail system, KTM, KTM Komuter, Putra LRT, STAR LRT and Express Rail Link (ERL). The Putra and STAR system is totally different so much so that one has to come out at Masjid Jamek and re-enter to take the other system.

Whilst the STAR system is much cheaper, Putra boasts of world-class trains without drivers even rivaling those in cities such as London and New York. The question is, did we, the public "demand" such a system and refuse to pay the fare? Or is it due to poor planning, vested interests, and artificially inflated contracts that has rendered our transport system hopelessly in a mess?
