When I was young, my mother, father, teacher, grandfather, uncles, aunties told me that we all must be honest, trustworthy, avoid telling lies (among other evils).

We cannot do certain acts because they can hurt others and certain things can end up hurting even us. Religion was taught in schools in different forms. We all learnt to respect one another as individuals. We lived as neighbours and we played, laughed and everyone became friends.

Then a group of people called 'politicians'- the products of the very education that was described earlier- changed the very essence of logic, truth and sincerity by lying through their teeth, and being untrustworthy and dishonest. These very people have completely mangled what we should adhere to the most - the truth.

We have politicians who accuse others of doing things which they themselves are committing. It may be called denial but it won't work long, not for a lifetime anyway. What will happen to friends of the accuser when the truth is spelt out in the open?

If the accuser is alive he can 'psychologically' deny it. If he is dead and gone, what will happen to his 'friends' who have till then supported him and his words?

The point I am making is honesty is still the best policy.
