I have returned from Australia for almost a year. In the last two years or so, I think I have seen and heard enough about different political parties and their leaders. As a Chinese Malaysian, I naturally want to join and serve a party that can best serve the interests of Chinese as Malaysians.

Join MCA? No way. It is a corrupt and unruly party that only brings shame to Chinese Malaysians. Gerakan? Too small to be effective and its grassroots members are no different from MCA's.

What about DAP? I did consider it for a while. But my friends all told me that DAP is only good looking from outside and a distance but not inside. The grassroots are also MCA-like Chinese and leaders are very authoritarian and Machiavellian. The treatment meted out to the DAP Youth chief who called for the party' long-serving head honcho to back off has proven it. DAP seems to only want obedient and slavish youth to be supporters and followers of Lim Kit Siang and his son, the future paramount leader. It is a "do what I say, don't do what I do" type of feudal culture.

This is a dilemma I cannot solve for the moment. I hope that by sharing it, someone may help to debate the future of Chinese in this country.
