The Internal Security Act was introduced by the British to combat the Communist threat at that time. It has a purpose and now it is being used to curb the activities of the Kumpulan Mujahideen Malaysia (KMM).

We have enjoyed relative peace in this country under the present government. When we compare the situation in Malaysia with some of the neighboring countries we should consider ourselves fortunate.

We do not want churches or temples being bombed by extremists. It is important that the government keeps its promise to maintain Malaysia as multi-racial and multi-religious.

The deputy prime minister has made an announcement that the government has proof of KMM's subversive activities.

I support the government's use of the Internal Security Act to curb subversive activities or threats made against the citizens of our country.

We have seen what the Mujahideen and the Taliban has done to Afghanistan. They are a highly trained army and are conversant in using sophisticated arms.

The Mujahideen believes in the use of force to overthrow the government. We in Malaysia believe in democracy, we cannot tolerate this form of ideology or the method adopted to topple the government.

I fully support the police and the government in the use of the Internal Security Act to protect the citizens of our country.
