Khalid: Don't believe wild claims about Kok

In a statement today, Khalid expressed disappointment over the incident in which two petrol bombs were flung into the compound of the house in Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur, about 3am.
“The state government is aware of all the wild claims that have been hurled at Kok and I wish to state that the allegations against her are baseless,” said Khalid.
He said that Kok, who holds the investment, industrial and commerce portfolio in the executive council, has always been thorough and that she examines social issues without racial or political sentiments.
“Kok is a responsible and steadfast leader… her mannerisms are appropriate for our peaceful plural society,” he said.
“She has supported Selangor’s (policy of) ‘communitarian economics’ and has allocated aid and development for every citizen without (considering their) race or creed.”
Kok, who is also the Seputeh parliamentarian, was recently released after being detained for seven days under the Internal Security Act (ISA), for alleged involvement in issues deemed sensitive to Muslims.
She had expressed suspicion that the petrol-bomb attack was linked to these claims, saying her parents and younger siblings who occupy the house were “much shaken” and feared for their lives.
“I view this act as most despicable and criminal, (it’s) designed to instil fear, anxiety in me and to prevent me from performing my duties as an elected representative,” she had said.
“I also attribute this despicable act to certain media groups and blogs that have deliberately demonised and portrayed me as chauvinistic, anti-Malay and anti-Islam.”
