I am a Chinese Malaysian and I am infuriated and insulted by the viewpoints put across by writer WM Ho in his letter 'Is Ong a reformasi secret agent?' (Aug 6). It is obvious from the content that Ho is an MCA member and an avid fan of its president Dr Ling, but that doesn't qualify him to speak on behalf of all Chinese Malaysians.

The writer points out that "the decision of Dr Ling and his trusted and tested comrades to take over Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press will certainly benefit Ong as an MCA Member of Parliament because without the Chinese newspapers, it would be very difficult for the party to spread its message to the Chinese community (italics mine)".

Let us be very clear here: If I, as a Chinese Malaysian, want to read or know anything, I would not buy and read a newspaper that a political party uses "to spread its message to the Chinese community". I remember not too long ago that, with clenched fists, Dr Ling assured one and all that the MCA will not interfere in the running of the two Chinese dailies.

The writer also urges his party's central committee to "strongly and decisively discipline Ong for his indiscipline and his disloyalty to the cause of the party, Barisan Nasional and the Chinese Malaysian (italics mine)".

How did Ong betray the Chinese Malaysian as a whole in his alleged actions at the MCA Youth AGM?

How dare the writer or anyone from the MCA for that matter, decide if Ong has betrayed me, a Chinese Malaysian?

I suggest Ho and his "tested and trusted comrades" reexamine the situation and not take for granted that all Chinese Malaysians are part of his constituency and that he could speak on my behalf.
