Here we go again. This time, it's 'Al-Ma'unah - the Sequel'. We have the same producer (the prime minister) and the same director (the IGP). The plot revolves around the Internal Security Act, made more interesting as the 'actor-cum-victim' includes the son of a famous and well-respected Menteri Besar, that of Kelantan.

The prologue drums the same rhythm of "a possible militant act that presents a threat to the national security". The audiences' rating - no star, for it is an outdated play.

Nevertheless, Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be commended for his die-hard effort that should put him as the undisputed winner in the Malaysia Book of Records under the Malaysia Boleh! category.

If he thinks, by refining the earlier version of Al-Ma'unah , the public would begin to have a 'paradigm shift', he thinks wrongly. His words are likened to a current account in deficit to which any cheque deposited will bounce. His problem, which often burdens his other partners, is that he never learns to shut up. However, this is indeed an advantage to his political adversaries who are able to cash in on his weakness and preempt his moves.

Sometimes I wonder when will Mahathir ever learn? The relentless effort to demonise the opposition has become such an obsession of his to the detriment of every organ of government, politically, socially and economically. He has reached a stage where he openly declared recently that tolerance is only good when it serves one's benefit and any claim of otherwise is hypocritical.

That very statement from Dr M himself clearly shows that every single move that he introduced is purely to safeguard his throne from falling elsewhere. In doing so, he is flagrantly staking the country itself as a poker chip. So who is the Pengkhianat Negara (traitor to the country) now?
