English newspapers

The Star headlined the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi urging Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim to name the allegedly defecting MPs - if the former deputy prime minister is not bluffing.

New Straits Times also started with Abdullah calling Anwar a liar and demanding him to reveal the defectors list if it existed at all.

Malay newspapers

Both Berita Harian and Utusan Malaysia chose to lead with demands for Anwar’s defector list, dousing the Pakatan’s play for power, and standing solidly behind BN remaining in power.

Chinese newspapers

Sin Chew Daily and Oriental Daily News led with Anwar’s claim that he has secured enough defectors and the PM refuting it as ‘dreaming’.

Nanyang Siang Pau headlined the PM challenging Anwar to publicise his so called BN parliamentarian defectors list.

All three Tamil dailies – Tamil Nesan, Malaysia Nanban and Makkal Osai – reported on Anwar Ibrahim's readiness to form a government and Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi scoffing off that claim.
