English newspapers

New Straits Times, Star and The Sun all led with the three-year suspension of Ahmad Ismail following an Umno supreme council meeting over his racial rants.

Malay newspapers

Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian also headlined the Umno decision against its Bukit Bendera leader Ahmad Ismail.

Chinese newspapers

Sin Chew Daily, Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press all led with the same story on Ahmad Ismail's suspension from Umno.

However, Oriental Daily News highlighted the cabinet’s concern over racial tension in the country and the threat to use ISA if necessary.

Tamil newspapers

All three dailies - Malaysia Nanban, Makkal Osai and Tamil Nesan - reported on the suspension of Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Ahmad Ismail for three years.

New Straits Times pointed out that although the police have every right to lodge police reports against magistrates for their failure to extend remand for suspects under investigation, it is not sufficient reason for the police to not respect the discretionary power of the courts in handing down judgment.

Utusan Malaysia urged everyone not to be sceptical towards Umno’s decision to punish Ahmad Ismail and that the party is being biased. According to the daily, Umno would do the same thing to its other component parties if they break the rules.

Oriental Daily News and China Press called on all parties to put a stop on the Ahmad Ismail dispute and focus on economici issues.

Nanyang Siang Pau questioned the effectiveness of setting up BN Code of Conduct while Sin Chew Daily called on the government to enhance the enforcement against copyright pirating.

Tamil Nesan commented on Ahmad Ismail's suspension, saying that it was the right decision to be made.
