I am surprised that malaysiakini published the letter written by S Rahman 'Doing a good job spreading hatred and disunity' (July 27).

Your online newspaper is known for its liberal attitude and sense of fair play you adopt by publishing opinions which not only contradicts yours , but also that criticising malaysiakini itself.

But at least let those criticisms be intelligent and convincing , even though they are void of facts and examples. S Rahman's letter contains none of the 'requirements'.

The accusation of 'doing an excellent job of promoting disunity and hatred amongst Malaysians' is a serious one.

The writer should have supported his allegation with examples rather than personal conjecture and blind hatred of liberal, just and fair opinions which he could not bring himself to agree with.

He is right about one thing though. The people are not as ignorant as many would think. That is why they prefer to read malaysiakini, whose team members are as Malaysian as can be.

If S Rahman is disgusted to call himself one, I'm sorry for him.
