In reference to S Rahman's 'Doing a good job spreading hatred and disunity' (July 27). You are doing exactly what you are criticising - opinion imposing and thinking, like the powers-that-be, that all Malaysians are stupid and gullible.

I do not believe totally what is written in malaysiakini and neither do I believe totally in what is being published in the New Straits Times, Star or any of the so-called "mainstream papers".

At this point in our history, Southeast Asians as a whole, are more educated. We are no more the ignorant serfs under a colonial power that dictates what is good or bad for us or what we should read or not read.

What we need is freedom of the press so that all angles are covered, warts and all, and with more information we can perhaps know whether our elected government is doing a good job or not.

I hope that there will be more outfits like malaysiakini. Although I will not totally agree with all that is written, I am pleased that they do and can exist.
