If anyone should resign it should be Najib
I refer to the Malaysiakini report Umno leaders call on PM to quit.
The call for Abdullah to resign has no just cause or reason. Firstly, whatever Abdullah has done is in accordance with Umno's practice and policies.
To name a few they are the racial policies, the education policies, the religious policies, the economic policies in condoning corrupt practices and the way Umno members react to any policies of integration for the benefit of the non-Malays.
And above all is the Ketuanan Melayu policy. Did Abdullah step out of line? If so, then the call for his resignation is justifiable.
What these Umno politicians should know is that it is they who have caused the failure of the Umno candidate in the Permatang Pauh by-election. All those who voted for PKR voted for:
1. Eradication of corruption in the government machinery
2. Fair treatment of all the citizens
3. While maintaining bumi Rights, do give leeway to the non-bumis who have shown some merit in job performance and education
4. The control of racist remarks made by Umno members in the media.
5. Unbiased reporting by the media
6. Recognition that the non-bumis have contributed to the development of this country as compared to Indonesians who came here for the sole purpose of gaining from our economic growth, and in return getting citizenship with all the bumiputera benefits.
I am a third-generation citizen of this country and my father and uncles fought the Japanese and the communists. But alas, I am only a third-class citizen.
In analysing the whole scenario, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak should be the one to resign as his presence in Permatang Pauh served as a constant reminder of his lies to the people. The viscous attacks upon Anwar made the rakyat realise that Najib could have a hand in orchestrating Saiful's swearing episode.
His denial that he does not know Altantunya, his alleged fling in PD, his panicked methodology of promising development and the looking into the affairs of the minority Indians all did not work.
The next time around don’t come around telling us that if you win, you would do this and that. Since you are in power and in authority now, tell us what have you done and come to the rakyat with a report card.
Do not talk of what you have done for the community but what you have done for the nation , what policies have you adopted and changed since the last election that you deserve a second chance.
I repeat again, if there is anyone to resign from the Permatang Pauh fiasco it should be Najib and all the members of the cabinet because the voters of Permatang Pauh voted for the nation and not for their own selfish needs.
Maybe the leaders of Umno can learn something from the Permatang Pauh's voters.
