Waikit Lau stated in his letter 'The silent should shut up' (July 12) that the ISA propaganda has impressed upon us the dogma that society is more important than the individual.

I would like to add that those anti-ISA individuals were willing to risk arrest because they believe that society is more important than their individual selves and that the ISA is never good for a civil, just and democratic society.

The silent majority should not keep their mouths shut but speak up so that the nation can know what the majority want and the government should provide a channel of open expression instead of suppressing freedom of expression.
