With regard to Dr M Bakri Musa's article, 'Globalisation - bogeyman of neocolonialism' (July 5), the idea of neocolonialism in the guise of globalisation is a highfalutin humbug perpetrated by Dr Mahathir Mohamad to disguise the resistance of the Malays to losing their subsidised and mollycoddled nirvana under a globalised world.

As Bakri Musa states, globalisation makes strange bedfellows of the anticolonial humbugs in Malaysia, the Bible-thumping right in the US and the union-featherbedded and six-pack swilling ignoramuses of the US industrial heartland.

Let's suggest a suitable cri de coeur for this disparate band. How about: Deadbeats of the world, unite!
