It is PAS's political objective to establish an Islamic State in Malaysia if they come to power. Let them do so when and if they come to power on their own. It is their right and there is nothing wrong with it. Malaysians can decide on that issue at the next general elections.

DAP which is a democratic party does not support the establishment of an Islamic State. This does not mean DAP is anti-Islam as DAP too, has many Muslim members. DAP believes that religion and politics should not mix. There is nothing wrong with this view as well.

However, it is up to Barisan Alternatif (BA) to decide once and for all what would be its collective stand on the issue of an Islamic State in Malaysia. BA leaders should decide what is important for them, an 'Islamic state' or a 'just and transparent government'

BA is doomed to break-up if this issue is not addressed quickly. The deadlock on this matter must come to an end, we should move forward for the sake of Malaysians who look forward for changes.

Nevertheless, it is still possible for DAP, Keadilan (and PRM if it is still around then) and PAS to come to an electoral pack before the next elections to deny BN the two-third majority as a first step towards meaningful democracy in Malaysia.

Perhaps, if Keadilan were to win more seats than PAS in the next general elections, there may be a better opportunity for the opposition parties to come together to form a viable coalition then with Keadilan as the leader. Islamic state may not be an issue then.
